Nova Scotia is betting on homeowners to become landlords. Will Ontario do the same?

The province of Nova Scotia has announced a loan program for people looking to build an additional dwelling unit on their property. https://lnkd.in/gDQ-PzMv

The new Secondary and Backyard Suite Incentive Program, will provide up to $25,000 in forgivable loans to eligible homeowners who create an affordable basement or backyard home on their property.

Is it time for Ontario to follow suit? With the significant deterioration of home affordability across the country, it begs the question if a $25,000 loan is enough incentive for homeowners to invest in their properties. Whether or not this grant creates a boom in ADUs, it's certainly a start.
